WebSomalia (hereafter “Somalia” or “FRS”) for assistance under the Enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative.1,2 The assessment is based on a joint HIPC debt relief analysis (DRA)3 conducted by IMF and IDA staffs and the Somali authorities, following a data reconciliation mission in July 2024. WebCurrently, 36 HIPC-eligible countries have reached the completion point, while three countries—Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan—remain in the pre-decision point phase. After more than two decades of hiatus, Somalia is beginning to make meaningful progress towards reaching HIPC Initiative’s decision point.
