Some people argue … WebJan 23, 2010 · A TH350 and TH400, the 400 may (IMO does) have less frictional loss in 2nd and 3rd than a TH350. The next "HP loss" is caused by rotating mass. It takes a certain amount of HP to "turn" the internals. At steady RPM, assuming the same frictional and pumping losses, the HP to turn a 25 lb rotating mass is the same as to turn a 2500 lb mass.

But I don't get it. Let's run a scenario: I've got a 302 making 300FWHP. 18% loss is about 55HP leaving 245RWHP, and that sounds like it could easily be accurate.
