WebJesus refers to himself as Son of Man rather than Christ or Messiah, which is how Peter identified him in verse 29. The title, Son of Man, is likely to stir less opposition than the title, Christos. The Jewish people expect the Christos to be a great king and military leader like David, but have no such expectations of the Son of Man.
